What happened: After dropping the first game on Tuesday to West Ottawa 5-3, the Bucs’ offense came out strong in the second game of the double header, defeating the Panthers 7-4. Junior Jared Kelly was the winning pitcher.

MVPs: Sophomore third baseman Nate Bonter came up big with two hits, bringing his batting average to .407 on the season. Bonter, who leads the team in hits, also added two runs scored and an RBI. Junior Johnny Miller pitched three strong innings in relief of Kelly, allowing just one run off of three hits.

Key Quote: “We’ve got to just play a clean baseball game. We’ve got to throw strikes as pitchers, we’ve got to field the ball when it’s hit to us and we’ve got to throw the ball accurately. If we do that, we’ll be in every ball game. If we don’t do it, we’re gonna give away games like we did in game one.” -Varsity head coach Mike Hansen

Up Next: The Bucs will hit the road today to battle West Ottawa for the third straight game.
